All States and Territories across Australia have reached a unanimous agreement declaring the NSW General Emergency (Blue) Zone Varroa mite free.
AHBIC has been working hard with the jurisdictions since the start of the incursion to ensure we achieve business continuity as soon as possible for beekeepers. The fruit of the hard work of AHBIC’s countless hours of meetings and discussions with each state since then, has resulted in this major milestone for the beekeeping industry.
Beekeepers in the NSW blue zone are reminded they can only move their bees or hives if they complete a hive movement declaration. It is also mandatory for all NSW beekeepers to carry out alcohol washes 16 weeks apart and to report the results to DPI through the online form at dpi.nsw.gov.au or calling DPI on 1800 084 881.
