Varroa Response Update
This information is current as at 8:30pm Thursday 24th August 2023.
It is unfortunate to report that of the traces out of Kempsey, two infected premises have been confirmed in Euroley and Euston on almond pollination stands in NSW.
Both infected premises have been gazetted, each with the standard 10km RED and 25km PURPLE emergency zones. The DPI have stated, surveillance operations of both newly gazetted areas will be highest priority. The DPI surveillance activities will continue to focus on the Kempsey cluster and traces out of Kempsey to other locations in NSW.
AHBIC has been assured that beekeepers will be able to access the permit system to gain approval to move from the zones under strict permit conditions. We are working closely with the IMT and will provide an update to include the information for this process as soon as it becomes available.
Beekeepers in the BLUE zone are able to move hives by completing their movement declarations PRIOR to moving hives within the BLUE zone. Use the NSW DPI movement declaration form: https://forms.bfs.dpi.nsw.gov.au/forms/12344
It is more important than ever that beekeepers’ complete movement declarations and keep up their mandatory alcohol washes and reporting. Report alcohol washes via DPI website here: https://forms.bfs.dpi.nsw.gov.au/forms/13537
Keeping up these requirements supports future traceability.
